All Italian Montreal bars and restaurants are becoming Olive Gardens today in order to adopt and use the famous Italian eatery’s slogan ‘When You’re Here, You’re Family!’ in an attempt to get around the two families per household rule in time for the opening Euro Cup 2020 match between Italy and Turkey.

‘We think it’s a great slogan because it makes everyone feel included and like they’re part of one big family – and if we’re one big family then technically people can sit wherever they want because – well – we’re just one big family cause when you’re here; you’re family!’ says Gianni, owner of Café Dieci Volte – now an Olive Garden – in NDG. ‘Although I’d never eat at an Olive Garden… EVER…’ Gianni included, ‘even if it was to save my own mothe— well, ok, maybe for that I will; but anything else NO!’

When asked for a comment an Olive Garden representative told us, ‘We’re happy to see the Italian community finally accepting the Olive Garden; we’ve been vying for this for so long and the attention is really nice. I mean, even though they’re just using our slogan in order to get past measures put into place it still means a lot to us that we’re being noticed by actual Italians!’

Restaurants and bars will return to their original established names on days when Italy isn’t playing a match in the Euro Cup.
