P.K. Subban, a defenceman and the alternate captain for the Montreal Canadiens, surprised SAAQ patrons this week when we he made an unexpected appeareance at the Place Dupuis outlet in order to renew his license.
“Wow, it’s amazing. He’s a millionaire and I see him on TV all the time and now he’s waiting in line behind me to pay for his license renewal,” said Jeremy Kern, who was at the outlet paying for his vehicle registration.
“I got to take his picture!” mentioned Philip Desmarais, the SAAQ’s photographer on staff that day. “I always wanted to be a sports photographer and now I can say I achieved a little bit of that dream by taking P.K. Subban’s license photo today. Still, it makes me wonder what would’ve happened if I followed my dream of becoming a sports photographer instead of getting married and having kids. Don’t get me wrong – I love my wife and kids – but I put everything on hold when we had our first child. Now they’re all grown up and have moved out of the house and it’s just me and Geneviève. Maybe today was a sign, maybe today I was told I did what I had to do and I can finally follow my dream. We’ll see. Maybe I’ll check the internet later for some photography courses – who knows, right?” Philip continued.
When asked about what prompted his surprise visit to the SAAQ, P.K. replied, “it wasn’t a surprise, at least not for me, I had to get my license renewed. It happens every year.”
According to sources the SAAQ wasn’t P.K. Subban’s only surprise visit that day; he later visited a nearby IGA to purchase granola bars and was also seen pumping gas in his legally drivable vehicle.
